No more fear of gorillas
By Dad | May 26, 2007
My folks have a cute little teddy-bear-style stuffed gorilla. Grace will avoid it like the plague. If you try to bring it anywhere near her, she will freak out.
I think she gets this from her grandfather who had an incredible fear of gorillas. This fear was solidified for him upon watching Murders in the Rue Morgue. This is not a movie you want to watch if you are afraid of gorillas. Being chased by a gorilla was a recurring nightmare for him. He finally overcame this fear by facing the gorilla toe-to-toe in his dreamscape. I think he yelled at it to go away or punched it. I’m not sure exactly.
For Grace we thought we’d do something similar. Only we decided to do it with a real gorilla.

I think it worked. She loves gorillas now.
