4th of July
By Mom | July 13, 2009
It’s finally starting to look like summer outside. For the 4th of July weekend we spent lots of time outdoors in the sunshine with family. I asked Grace if she remembers last year’s 4th of July but I once again got a blank stare. Then I reminded her of how she got to stay up late and watch the awesome fireworks at the local college. I think she actually remembered it so she was especially excited when this 4th came along.
We headed down south to Fullerton early Friday afternoon to hang out with the grandparents for the weekend. Soon after we arrived Grace wanted to cool off from the heat and splash in the kiddie pool out back.
By now Cole knows a thing or two about pools so he knew just what to do. Lounge by the pool with a cocktail.
That night we ate at the The Old Spaghetti Factory for some pasta and spumoni. Grace was doing her best to teach Cole the proper ways of eating spaghetti.
Cole caught on pretty fast.
Cole then taught Grace how he says “all done”.
Grace got the picture.
The next day was Independece Day and my little miss statue of liberty was ready for the festivities to begin.
Grace was so excited about the fireworks that she kept asking “is it time yet?”. I had to remind her many times that it had to be dark outside first. So to kill time before the BBQ we walked down to a school park. Grace got to show us her balancing skills.
Girls don’t sweat, they perspire. Grace was perspiring a lot.
How do you entertain bored kids at a party? Why with balloons of course.
Finally it was dark and we put Cole to bed because he was tuckered out and couldn’t stay up until 9pm to watch the fireworks. Grandma Dorothy an Grandma Esther were so kind to stay behind and watch Cole as the rest of us went to watch the fireworks outside of the college stadium. We were set up in a row with our chairs ready for them to begin.
Hope you had a happy 4th. Grace sure did.
